A former surface Mn mine group located in the NW¼ sec. 3 & the center E½NE¼ sec. 4, T3S, R23W, on land of unknown status. Owned by Hess, Hess & Lilly. Messrs. Kirk & Lea had unspecified involvement here (1954).
Mineralization is psilomelane and pyrolusite in irregular, disconnected masses and veinlets in brecciated and silicified Tertiary andesitic volcanics along fault zones.
Workings include open pit operations. Worked in 1953 and 1954. The group produced some few hundred long tons of 20-40% Mn ore.
