A Au-Ag-Pb-Cu-Zn-alunite (Bi-Sb) mining district located in T.3-4N., R.19-20W., in La Cholla Wash and its tributaries, Dome Rock Mountains. It is a notch in the West and South of the La Paz District, and is immediately North of the La Cholla District.

Mineralization is varied: (1) Gold placer deposits in seams of gravel close to bedrock in washes and benches on tilted, beveled Mesozoic shale, schist, and slate, and on Mesozoic granite along upper reaches of La Cholla Wash and its tributaries; (2) Spotty gold, silver, lead, copper, and zinc mineralization in quartz veins and stringers, or in bedded eposits along structural planes in Mesozoic metamorphics or granite; and, (3) Natroalunite in schistose and porphyritic dacite intruding Mesozoic schist in Sugar Loaf Peak.

Workings include numerous dry and wet placer operations, mostly from gravel in pits, shafts, and trenches, by small operators. Small mines and prospects. Total estimated and recorded placer gold recovered, from the 1860's through 1974, would be some 12,000 oz., with 1,500 oz. of silver. Mine production for the same period would be some 866 tons of ore containing about 320 oz. of gold, 250 oz. silver, 61 tons lead, 9 tons zinc, and a small amount of copper.
