Old abandoned and partly flooded melaphyre quarry, on the eastern slope of Ostoja (753 m) - spilitized (albite- and chlorite-rich) trachyandesites of Early Permian.
Note - in old German scientific works, this quarry is related to Łomnica, Germ. Lomnitz.
Awdankiewicz (1999): Volcanic rocks from Głuszyca belong to trachyandesites of Rybnica Leśna Volcanic Association. They occur as shallow-level subvolcanic (laccolith-type) body of ca. 100 m in depth and 300m in length. The assemblage of Głuszyca trachyandesites was linked to the post-collisional (continental), extension-related magmatic activity developed within the Intra-Sudetic Basin during the climax of Variscan Orogeny.
Powolny T. et al. (2021): "trachyandesites ... have been strongly affected by chloritization of both aegirine and augite, combined with an occasional celadonitization of volcanic glass. Furthermore, chloritization of sodic pyroxenes must have released notable amounts of Na+, which could be involved during later pervasive albitization of primary andesine-labradorite. According to various chemical and semi-empirical thermometers, the replacive chlorites formed in the range of 124–170 °C. Trachyandesites from Głuszyca contain abundant fluorapatites, marked by the occurrence of swallow-type terminations, which are indicative of rapid-cooling formation conditions. Central AFT ages of the samples vary between 161–182 Ma and correspond to the Middle-Jurassic period. Meanwhile, these ages are significantly younger than the emplacement of igneous rocks during the Middle Rotliegendes period (~299–271 Ma). ... Chlorite were also found as vug-filling non-replacive crystals associated with celadonite mica."
