Small quarry where a orthoamphibole-bearing rock was mined for insulating material production at the shore of Kjennerud lake. The orthoamphibole may not be anthophyllite as commonly accepted, see Kullerud et al. 2019).
NOTE: This locality was long belived to be the type locality of Anthophyllite. However Kullerud et al. (2019) has showed that the type locality is the dump at Kjennerudvann Silver Mine about 500m further north of this locality. Please see the entry in the dump at Kjennerudvann Silver Mine for more information on the type locality.
Analysis of one sample of anthophyllite (the brownish orthoamphibole mineral) from Kjennerudvann has shown this not to be anthophyllite, but gedrite/sodic gedrite. Further investigations is in progress to establish if anthophyllite exist at the typelocality or not. (Kullerud et al. 2019).
