Julius Chee #3
An U occurrence/mine located in the approximate NW¼ sec. 11, T26N, R10E, G&SRM, SSE of Cameron and SE of Gray Mountain (town).
Mineralization is an U deposit hosted in the lower Petrified Forest Member of the Chinle Formation. Carnotite and autunite occur in carbonaceous sandstone. The ore was reported to be out of equilibrium with high radiometric readings.
Workings include surface openings comprised of a SW pit at 200 x 50 x 30 foot deep, plus drillings. The pit was shared in common with the Julkius Chee No. 2, Julius Chee No. 4 & the Emmett Lee No. 1.
Production was 218 tons of ore @ 0.17% U3O8; 0.001% V2O5 (1956-1957 & 1962-1963). The 1963 shipments were the last recorded for the Cameron district.
