Prayon is a village in the Belgian municipality of Trooz.
Prayon is located on the Vesder at an altitude of about 80 meters. At Prayon, the Magne flows into the Vesder.
Prayon traditionally belonged to Forêt. The presence of the metal industry led to an increase in the number of inhabitants, and in 1742 a chapel dedicated to Saint Laurentius was built. In 1803 Prayon was added to the parish of Louveigné, later to that of Forêt, to become an independent parish in 1843.
In 1829 a zinc smelter was built at the confluence of the Magne and Vesder rivers. The factory was soon given the name Nouvelle Montagne, to distinguish it from the Vieille-Montagne zinc company that already existed elsewhere. Minerals from Stembert and Engis were processed there. In 1889, the Société métallurgique de Prayon was founded.
