Description: Occurs in veinlets about 3-4 mm thick, which cut a black manganese ore deposit consisting mainly of quartz and braunite. The physical properties of piemontite are very similar to those of piemontite-(Sr) (color deep red,streak purple-brown, lustre vitreous and transparent) and many specimens labeled piemonite-(Sr) is in reality piemontite.
