Millard Quarry, Clear Spring Quarry
The Millard Quarry was originally named the Clear Spring Quarry and began operation in 1880. In the 1890s, the quarry was acquired by Jacob Millard and it was operated by the Millard family until the mid 1960s. The quarry exchanged hands several times and in 2001, Pennsy Supply, a subsidiary of Oldcastle Materials, took ownership. The quarry produces limestone and dolomite for industrial use.
The quarry runs parallel to Route 422 and is about three miles long. The operation is so large, it has begun to expand underground.
