Detailed Mineral List:

Calcite
Formula: CaCO3
Habit: massive, intergrown
Colour: transparent, white, cream, red
Description: Calcite forms the basis of many of the nodules and th rhizo-concretions at this location. May be pseudomorphous after gypsum/anhydrite in places.
Reference: Alysson Rowan Collection
Erythrite ?
Formula: Co3(AsO4)2 · 8H2O
Habit: earthy, encrusting
Colour: pink
Description: Minute, pinkish crusts on black nodules after allowing to dry out thoroughly have been tentatively identified as erythrite as being comparable to the material seen on the similar nodules from Budleigh Salterton.
Reference: Alysson Rowan Collection
'Limonite'
Habit: massive
Colour: ochre yellow
Description: Well-rounded pebbles of pure sulphide minerals have given rise to pure, pigment grade limonite. Analysis is probably close to pure hydrated Fe(III) hydroxide. The presence of limonite is significant as all other iron oxides have been converted to nano-particles of hematite as part of the deposition process.
Reference: Alysson Rowan Collection
Metatyuyamunite ?
Formula: Ca(UO2)2(VO4)2 · 3H2O
Habit: bladed, earthy
Colour: yellow
Description: Seen as minute, yellowish crusts of tiny crystals on the surface of black nodules. Tentatively identified through similarity with the mineral as seen on the Budleigh Salterton nodules.
Reference: Alysson Rowan Collection
Metavivianite ?
Formula: Fe2+Fe3+2(PO4)2(OH)2 · 6H2O
Habit: botryoidal, encrusting
Colour: bottle green to greenish-black
Description: Seen as bottle-green to greenish-black encrustations on surfaces and within fractures. Tentatively identified as metavivianite through inference from understood local chemistry and similarity to other occurrances.
Reference: Alysson Rowan Collection
Quartz
Formula: SiO2
Habit: Massive, prismatic
Colour: white, yellowish
Description: Many of the clasts comprising the basal conglomerate and subsequent breccias are composed of broken quartz veins. Isolated crystal ponts may occasionally be found in the breccias.
Reference: Alysson Rowan Collection
