Sec 26 T36N R35E. Tin prospect in rhyolite. Consists of a fifty foot deep shaft and associated dump pile.
Alteration: The Tin-Bearing Belt Is Marked By Red-Staining Or Bleached Silicitied Rhyolite
Deposit: Cassiterite-bearing quartz veinlets, lenses, and fracture coatings in rhyolite tin was first discovered in 1914, work was done in the district from 1928 to 1938 and again in 1952. Exploration on the property consists of a 50 foot shaft. Small grab samples taken by fries in 1941 across the north & east walls of the shaft showed .01% sn and .005% sn respectively. See fries (1941 p. 291) for geologic map of the prospect.
Deposit type: Rhyolite-hosted Sn
Development: Tin discovered in 1914. The district was worked, 1928-1938 and again in 1952 mapped and sampled in 1941.
Geology: Stager, h.k. (1977) geology & mineral resources of lander co. Nev., n.b.m. Bull 88
Ore(s): Believed That Cassiterite-Bearing Incrustations Were Deposited Along The Walls Of Fumaroliz Vents. Evidence Cited Includes The Discontinuity And Extreme Irregularity In Attitude Of The Individual Fissures, The Abscence Of Brecciation & Faulting, The Similar Mineralogy Of Vesicle Fillings In The Host Rock And The Veinlets, And The Lack Of Other Sulfides.
