A salt deposit/mine complex located on the Grand Saline Salt Dome, 1.1 km (0.7 mile) SE of Grand Saline center. Owned by the Morton Salt Company. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
NOTE: The geographic coordinates presented are taken from the topo map at the exact location of the Morton mine.
Local rocks include rocks of the Wilcox Group, undivided and/or alluvium.
Workings include the wells and surface infrastructure necessary for the solution mining of salt. The Kleer Mine used the room and pillar method of salt mining. The mill capacity is/was 1,000 tons per day of salt.
Analytical data results: Mined salt is 98.6% halite.
