The « Canal du Nivernais » is a channel dug during the 19th century passing across the Nievre department, and today only used by tourism boats.

At Port Brulé/la Collancelle, the channel is 25 meters deep with several tunnels named “Voutes de la Collancelle”. All the rocks excavated during the 19th century have been left on the border and today form a small forest, 5 kilomteres long and 500 meters wide.

Parts of these rocks are similar to the Chitry ore deposits, but not so rich. Additionally, these rocks are crosscutted by a tertiary baryte vein around 1 meter wide with a little copper mineralization associated.
