Trough Lake (78°17′S 163°28′E) is a lake with an area of 1 square mile which occupies the northern portion of Pyramid Trough. It was named by the New Zealand Geographic Board in 1994 in association with Pyramid Trough.
This valley is carved out of Paleozoic metasediments and granites and flows of McMurdo Volcanics occur to the south-west. Other volcanic vents occur on the Bulwark, and small scoria cones are present on the moraine in the valley floor less than 500 m south of Trough Lake.
