Metamorphic veins in antigorite serpentinite near Grange Peyro del Vej, about 1 km SE of Torrette.
Metamorphic veins occurring in fractured serpentinite usually contain various fibrous minerals (carlosturanite, antigorite, diopside, garnet, etc.), of which carlosturanite and diopside are the main constituents. Carlosturanite generally occurs as long fibres oriented either parallel or perpendicular to the vein selvages. Fibrous diopside, garnet (andradite with fibrous habit) and antigorite are intergrown with carlosturanite. Carlosturanite can be partially replaced by chrysotile and/or brucite (Belluso & Ferraris, 1999; Groppo & Compagnoni, 2007).
