A former mica mine.
Located approximately 5 kilometres north-east of the Huckitta pastoral station homestead. Satellite images indicate several scattered small workings across a flat area. None are directly accessed by a track, the nearest being the track which passes the Whistleduck Mine to the south.
Rochow describes the old and new workings, but it is unclear which of the small workings seen relate to this. Mindat map denotes roughly the centre of the widely scattered workings.
The old workings contain an open cut, 40 by 15 by 12 feet deep, on a fine grained pegmatite containing quartz, potash feldspar, beryl, and ruby mica. A second site is noted containing two pits, 5 feet across, and 3-5 feet deep on a coarse grained pegmatite. A third site contains on open cut 60 feet long, 5-10 feet wide, and 6-10 feet deep, on a fine to medium grained pegmatite, dipping 65 degrees east, with an irregular footwall vein, 5-10 feet thick, and no zoning.
No mention is made on the history of the new workings, but it is assumed based on the history of the field, these relate to the 1950's. One site contains 2 pits in a mica rich quartz pegmatite pipe marginal zone. The quartz core of the pegmatite is 6 feet thick. Another site contains an open cut 44 feet long, and 15 feet deep, following the hanging wall on a medium grained pegmatite, to a maximum of 6 feet thick, dipping 65 degrees west, with no quartz core. A third site contains a 12 foot deep shaft on a schorl rich pegmatite pipe, 4-5 feet thick, the feldspar partly kaolinised. Lastly a fourth pit is noted, irregular in shape, 8 feet deep, on a complex pegmatite/gneiss mixture. The pegmatite forms small lenses up to 2 feet thick in bands of gneiss also 2 feet thick.
