Located 175 kilometres west of Alice Springs, at the western end of the Namatjira tourist drive. The reserve contains Gosse's Bluff (Gosse Bluff), a 5 kilometre diameter structure caused by an asteroid or meteor colliding with Earth about 142.5 million years ago. A good view of the site can be obtained from Tylers Lookout, along the tourist drive, or by travelling into the crater. NASA states it is one of the most significant impact structures on the planet.
