A small uranium mine was developed here in the 1960's, from two shafts. Discovered in 1955. 3000 tonnes was produced averaging 10 lbs/t (0.5% U3O8).

The uranium was introduced by ground-water flow concentrated in the shear zone. The ore body is small, with a small extension eastwards from weathering. The deposit is sited in a south south-east trending quartzite ridge, with knolls of schistose volcanics, underlain by metamorphosed and sheared volcanics of the Warramunga Group. The quartzite contains much hematite, and jaspilization, with minor Au-Cu. The mine workings accessed uranium rich quartzite breccia, but most of the ore elsewhere is found in sheared volcanics. Uranium distribution is controlled by deep seated fractures, showing on the surface as jointing, minor faulting, and slip shearing. Autunite, torbernite, and carnotite are noted as species.

Follow the same access as that written under the Mosquito Creek Wolfram Field. Just after the track passes through the gap in the ranges, a track branches south-east ending after a couple of kilometres at four huts, or small sheds, which may now be called Punjarriji, as an indigenous out-station.
