34 kms south south-west of Ravensthorpe.
Maps found place Last Venture 7.5 kilometres south of Copper King, however the source states the opposite (Ferguson). Please note this when looking at the Mindat map (possibly incorrect).
Just south of West River (see above). Access is via an exploration track from the Phillips River Road, a gravel back-road linking Ravensthorpe to the Fitzgerald River National Park. The track is possibly very sandy and overgrown, with thick scrub in the area. The site is now part of the national park. A small cleared area can be seen, but other items need an on the ground inspection.
Stratiform sulphides in metavolcanic rocks. Copper mine with sphalerite in thin lenses, together with pyrite-chalcopyrite in quartz veins, in a mineralised zone 45 metres long, by 15 metres wide at the 30 metres depth level. Hosted by rosetted cordierite-anthophyllite-almandine-quartz-biotite-feldspar schist, dipping vertical to steeply east. Veinlets are sometimes enveloped by garnet. Sulphide-amphibolite intergrowths present.
Explored by CRA, Carr Boyd and NGM from 1975. The mine was active 1908-1909 producing 36 tonnes of copper ore, and 1962-1963 producing 7 tonnes of cupreous ore.
