Trebarvah Mine, apparently also known under the name Wheal Castle, lies to the east of Perranuthnoe village.
The mine was predominantly a copper producer, with only a small quantity of tin being raised. There are records of 1730 tons of brown hematite produced around 1873-4. Some lead and zinc is also recorded.
The base section of a stack lies within the garden of a bungalow, marking the site of one of the engine houses of the mine, some overgrown dumps are also located overlooking Perranuthnoe beach.
The adit of the mine outfalls onto the beach.
Pebbles of brown hematite are relatively common on the beach below the adit outfall.
