In 1990, a small test quarry was dug on the western side of the Fraser Range by Maritana Gold NL. The hole created is 20 metres wide and 15 metres deep, near the crest of a small hill. It contained fine grained medium grey laminated pyroxene granulite, trending north-east. When polished it became very dark with attractive magenta highlights. Despite this the deposit was not developed further.
