Mine du Moulinal
A huge fluorite vein (1400m in length, 10m in width) with many small parallel veins, hosted in cambrian black schists. It is the eastern part of a long structure including the Mont-Roc Mine.
This vein was mined during antiquity (for copper and iron) but was only rediscovered in 1943. It was operated (for fluorite) from 1943 until 2005, first underground then in a large quarry from 1984. During the operation, 900,000 tons of fluorite were worked out!
