Dyer Trap Rock Quarry, Hay Creek Trap Rock Quarry
A traprock quarry in early Jurassic diabase. Located 1.4 mi SW of the center of Birdsboro, consisting of two quarries on the right bank of Hay Creek and one on the left, all just south of Birdsboro. Operations were begun by the J.T. Dyer Company in 1893. One of the three quarries closed in 1933 at the depths of the depression and the remaining workings were abandoned in 1957, at the expiration of its lease.
The property was purchased by Haines & Kibblehouse in 1988, but faced legal challenge by Robeson Township. This challenge was eventually rejected by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court in 1999, upon which the operation was finally issued a mining permit by PDEP and officially began new operations as "H&K Birdsboro Materials Quarry".
