GML 252. Often simply called King in the newspaper articles. 12 acres. Adjacent to the Western Chief mine on the west. This places the mine just east of the Tambourah Creek, about 500 metres south-west of its crossing on the Abydos/Woodstock-Hillside Road.
It contained a well defined north-south striking reef, the whole length of the lease, 12 inches wide near the surface, expanding to one foot deeper. Four shafts had been sunk on it, to 45 feet, 2 x 25 feet and 75 feet deep.
A Tremaine mill had been removed from the White Angel mine near Marble Bar in the late 1890's, and re-erected on the King lease.
William Lorden from the mine arrived in Roebourne in 1898, with specimen stone from the 53rd foot level. By this stage only three mines were working on the field.
