GML 88. One of several historic gold mines from the 1890's just south of the Shaw Gorge, near the junction of the Shaw River and Callina Creek. Government geologist, Gibb-Maitland, in 1908 stated the Eldorado was the oldest mine in the area.
The location was mined by various parties across two years, including the Melbourne based Eldorado Gold Mining Company. The reef struck east-west with a vertical dip. A shaft had been sunk to 60 feet with levels at 30 and 60 feet. The reef outcropped intermittently, and is 7 feet wide. The gold grades in the reef was low, and included iron, copper and silver species. The upper parts of the reef produced some handsome specimen stone.
