A Ag-Pb-Au-Cu occurrence/group of mines located 0.9 km (0.6 mile) ENE of Calico, W of Odessa Canyon. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.

NOTE: The USGS MRDS database file presents MRDS file #10165020 as a related file. It is not related.

Mineralization is hosted in rhyolite. The ore body(ies) is irregular. Ore occurs as irregular pockets in fractures and joint planes in a mineralized zone along fault zones. Controls for ore emplacement included faults. Local rocks include Tertiary volcanic flow rocks, unit 16 (Northern Mojave Desert).

Local grologic structures include faults. The Bismark Fault strikes northward, and dips 30W. The Occidental Fault strikes N15E and dips 35W. The Garfield Fault strikes NW and dips 75SW. The Odessa Fault strikes N40W and dips 70SW.

Workings include underground openings with a length of 15,240 meters. Garfield-Thunderer vein: 2 tunnels. The lower one driven along the Garfield fault for 4,000 feet. The upper tunnel is 2,500 feet long and was also driven along the fault. Different stopes show lengths of 300 feet and widths of 40 feet. On the Odessa, a tunnel was driven 600 feet along the fault.

Production data are found in: Goodwin, Joseph Grant (1957).

Main production was from oxidized ore that was cyanided for its Ag content. The base metals were recovered from old tailings. About 49,000 pounds of Pb were recovered.
