Iron ore mine. Satellite deposit to Mount Whaleback operated by BHP Billiton. 40 kilometres east north-east of Newman. The deposit is hosted by the Dales Gorge Member of the Brockman Iron Formation, in the keel of the west plunging Shovelanna Syncline. Ore types include martite-goethite and microplaty hematite, the former more prevalent in the north section of the pit, away from the fold keel.
Sometimes referred to simply as OB 18 East.
Located on Shovelanna Hill.
