Other/historical names associated with this locality:
Mount Juglah; Transville

The Juglah Gold Mine is approximately 5 kilometres north from the Trans Australian Railway line on the Bulong-Curtin Road. Then take a road east, again approximately 5 kilometres, and a track one kilometre north of this road. Juglah is half a dozen closely space collection of old shafts on saltbush flats, at the base of a low north-east to south-west rise.

Gold was discovered here in 1923 by Bennett, King and Jasson (surnames). The late discovery is attributed to the lack of people exploring the area, in particular timber cutters, as the flats are devoid of trees.

Crushings are recorded by these prospectors to 1926. There was also an alluvial rush to the site, as nuggets were being found amongst the saltbushes on the surface. The prospectors named the lease Transville, although the site was recorded at the time as Mount Juglah.

In December 1922, the Mutooroo Copper Corporation from South Australia paid 5000 pounds for a working option over the mine. In April 1924, an Adelaide stockbroker named Hamer (surname) took out a sampling option on the mine for 6000 pounds.

In 1925, it is reported the prospectors were erecting a treatment plant, the high cost of ore cartage to Kalgoorlie, barely making the mine profitable.

It appears most of the ore was obtained from the top 50 feet from the surface. Here was a shoot 12 feet wide, dipping south, in the western Hanging Wall. There were three shafts on the property. There are two parallel lodes, 100 feet apart, trending north-east to south-west.

In 1926, the prospectors obtained a 160 pound loan to continue development of the mine, but no more was heard after this.

While no total crushing figures were located, the mine across February 1923 to February 1924 produced 394.22 tonnes of ore for 515.33 ounces.

The mine closed in 1937.
