The abandoned Mirror open pit is approximately 3 kilometres south-east of the Daisy Milano Mine. Loganberry, Lass O'Gowrie, Magic, Costello, and several other open pits and old underground workings are a short distance north.
The mine is on the north-south trending Mirror Shear Zone, which hosts the ore body, and offsets the ultramafic komatiite body by 750 metres. The shear is not exposed in the pit, but was mapped by Westchester Mining, and interpreted as continuing north to the Costello and Lorna Doone open pits.
The pit shows a sequence of volcaniclastic sandstone and polymictic conglomerate, metamorphosed to greenschist facies. The southern part of the pit shows this layer is overlain by komatiite dipping 30-40 degrees south-west.
Tonalite sills intrude the northern part of the pit. The sequence is cross cut in the southern part of the pit a pair mafic dykes, one dipping moderately south-west, the other steeply north. Polymictic conglomerate dips 40 degrees south and south-west.
Gold is hosted in parallel quartz veins at the margins of the north-south trending shear zone.
