West to the Caloris Basin. Likely containing oligoclase basalts. They may be volcanic plains younger than the interior of the Basin. Similar areas are located south to the Basin. The plains may resemble the Moon's maria and may have formed by quickly flowing material coming from craters (basins).
The characteristic feature is a relatively high abundance of olivine (higher than in the interior of the Caloris Basin). Both olivine and orthopyroxene are supposed to be rich in Mg. Small blebs of iron may occur within olivine.
