Old Pb-Zn mine exploited at the beginning of the 20th century. It is located on the NW slope of Monte di Mezzo in Val del Lerze, a little right side-valley of Val Gerlano, to the south of the Speccheri village and is locally known as “The Gold Mine”.
The mineralisation, consisting of sulphide veins and nodules hosted in carbonate rocks of the Upper Anisian Calcare di Monte Spitz Formation near the contact with subvolcanic bodies of Ladinian age, shows strong similarities with those of the nearby Schio-Recoaro mining district (Veneto). Recent landslides have obliterated large part of the mining site, including the two mine entrances (Alterstolln and Neuerstolln). Near the obliterated entrance of Alterstolln, at 980 m a.s.l., traces of altered pyrite-marcasite nodules crop out and, just above it, veinlets of crystallised marcasite, sometimes embedded in quartz, are observed (Ferretti, 2011).
