A.E Lowe discovered several nuggets on the surface at this location about mid 1904. It is noted in 1906, he had done considerable development work (ie sinking shafts) with no profitable stone found. The location is at the southern end of the Springfield line. This is a series of small prospector shows, with the most substantial being the Black Jack at northern end. The mines are six kilometres south of Menzies and about one kilometre east of the Goldfields Highway.
