The Maori Chief Gold Mine was a small prospector mine, approximately 2 kilometres south of Menzies, just east of the Golden Age mine, south of the Menzies Alpha, and just west of the present railway line.
It was active between 1903 to 1913, during much of this time by a local syndicate of seven owners, including two active miners Caldwell and Firmin (surnames). Not much other than development work occurs from 1903 to 1906, the leader being small. In 1906, tributers Hodgson, Murphy, Dunstan and Brown produce crushings. Further crushings by the syndicate are found between 1907 to 1910.
In 1911, Boserio (surname) produces 81 tonnes of ore for 15.15 ounces of gold. Early 1913, A. Snell produces 12 tonnes of ore for 16 ounces of gold.
