Located about 5 kilometres south-east of Coolgardie, in an area immediately north-east of the Tindals open pit. Sometimes the sources talk generally of the New Australasian Group, when referring about the New Australasian mine itself and nearby Sherlaw's Perseverence, and Flagstaff mines. There are a number of tiny abandoned open pits in the area, indicating some minor modern mining took place at the locations.
The New Australasian mine was operated by a French syndicate as the New Australasian Gold Mining Company. They are first noted as developing the mine in 1896. By the end of 1897 a 10 head battery had been erected. This timing was not the best as in January 1898 the mine closed, when the gold shoot faded out. Thirty men had been employed at the mine.
Tributers are noted as crushing in 1899, and the company supplied gold specimens to the major Coolgardie Exhibition also held in this year. E.H. Mathews and party put through several crushings from the mine 1908 to 1910.
