Carbonaceous chondrite (CK5; S2; W3)
Find, 1982; 87.7 g

A very small stone was found on the ice. Its thin sections reveal a metamorphosed chondritic texture with poorly defined chondrules and mineral clasts in a semitransparent matrix. Olivine (Fa30) is abundant in recrystallized matrix and scattered porphyritic chondrules. Magnetite is often intergrown with matrix silicates. Some coarse magnetite grains contain exsolution lamellae of ilmenite and spinel.

CK (Karoonda-like) carbonaceous chondrites are one of 8 currently recognized chemical groups of carbonaceous chondrites. The CK chondrites are distinguished by fine-grained matrix (~75 vol%), mm-sized chondrules, and a high degree of oxidation. Olivine & pyroxene have been homogenized in petrologic type CK5.
