The Oversight Gold Mine is bordered to the west by the Lake View Mine, the east by the old disused highway, and the Oversight North mine to its north. The old lease is a series of north trending trenches and shafts.
It was not one of the original leases taken out in July 1911, and appears to have started life a little later, hence its name.
Oversight north was held by P. Johnson and party in 1912. `100 tonnes for 10 dwt came out of the mine in a crushing in 1912. At Oversight the only information found was 1939 with 5 tonnes crushed for 18 oz at 10 dwt. In 1947 the Oversight Mine was owned by Marchesi, Mazza and party. The main shaft produced in one crushing this year 120 tonnes for 8-9 dwt from a reef 1 to 3 feet wide. Another for 1947 saw 214 tonnes sent through the battery for 63 oz at 5.8 dwt.The year before saw 146 tonnes for 124 oz at 14 dwt. The extensive diggings would indicate this is just a small representative example of the mine's operations over many years.
