Abisso del Gatto is the deepest cave in Sicily. It is located 380 m a.s.l. sea on the western slope of Cozzo Carcarello. The cave is 1100 m long and 323 m deep. It develops along different levels of narrow galleries connected by several pits. The deeper galleries and some of the lateral branches are rich in carbonate speleothems (stalagmites, stalactites, and flowstone).
