Rock Creek Park is a winding 754 acre park that follows Rock Creek through the northwestern part of the District of Columbia. It was established in 1890 and is managed by the U.S. National Park Service. In addition to many hiking trails, there is a nature center and planetarium. Outcrops and float along the stream, much derived from Quaternary upland terrace gravels,can provide some interesting materials, but collecting in the park is not allowed.
