A 1Moz+ gold deposits about 20km W of Kalgoorlie
The deposit was discovered in 1999, with an open pit developed between April 2004 to October 2005 by Dioro, and Mines and Resources Australia Pty Ltd. The open pit produced 116 600 ounces of gold between 2004 to 2005. Again in 2010 to 2011 it was active.
After the open pit, Mines and Resources dragged its feet in agreeing to an underground mine, only resolved when it exited the scene.
The Frogs Leg underground mine was developed by La Mancha and Dioro Exploration in August 2007, with the first gold poured in May 2008.
The mine is in the southern portion of the goldfield. At the time of writing, it and the White Foil mine, 2.5 kilometres away, were being operated by Evolution Mining. The company began mining again at Frog's Leg mid 2014. Evolution had acquired full ownership after it bought out La Mancha.
The Frogs Leg ore lodes occur in steep dipping sheared contacts between the Black Flag volcaniclastics to the east, and the Victorious Basalt to the west. Gold is hosted in quartz veins and breccia. The ore lodes are 2 metres to 20 metres thick, and occur as sub-parallel lodes.
