A small prospect discovered in March 2013 and worked by a small group of collectors for quartz crystals. The site consists of a low outcrop of Dedham granodiorite containing a 1.5 foot thick vein of quartz that runs in a N-S direction. The bedrock exposure is accompanied by numerous small to medium boulders, many of which also contain quartz veins. Several crystals have been found here loose in the soil. A similar prospect has been uncovered a short distance away from the original.

ⓘ Calcite Formula: CaCO3 Habit: Massive Colour: white Description: Massive calcite is rarely found here filling pockets in quartz. References: |
ⓘ Goethite ? Formula: α-Fe3+O(OH) Colour: black, red Description: Tiny black spherical inclusions in quartz, as well as deep red coatings on quartz crystals. Inclusions well under 1mm. References: |
ⓘ Hematite Formula: Fe2O3 Colour: black, red Description: Tiny black spherical inclusions in quartz, as well as deep red coatings on quartz crystals. Inclusions well under 1mm. References: |
ⓘ Quartz Formula: SiO2 Description: Milky, smoky, and rock crystal varieties present. All varieties can be found as crystals. References: |
ⓘ Quartz var. Milky Quartz Formula: SiO2 Description: Milky quartz here is mostly massive, forming most of the veins in the outcrops and boulders present at the site, although a few crystals are found. Many quartz crystals have milky phantoms. References: |
ⓘ Quartz var. Rock Crystal Formula: SiO2 Description: Most of the smaller crystals are rock crystal. Some pieces are gemmy. References: |
ⓘ Quartz var. Smoky Quartz Formula: SiO2 Description: Crystals to 4.7cm in length found in quartz vein in outcrop as well as loose in the soil. Many crystals have phantoms and some are doubly terminated. Probably the most common variety here when it comes to crystals References: |
