Locality type:
Group of Dikes

The dikes are 10 kilometres west of the Argyle AK1 diamond mine. A series of discontinuous sets of small stringers up to 1 metre wide which have intruded the Lamboo Complex. It is suggested the occurrence could be related to the AK1 pipe as the stones recovered (6.4 ct of diamonds) are similar.

Individual dikes vary from a few mms to 1 m in width, but few are over 10 m long. The dikes are deeply weathered, but prospecting trenches and 2 boreholes indicate that they extend to at least 50m in depth and may be up to 3 m in width.

The dikes carry diamond at high grades, probably comparable with the Argyle occurrence, but because the dikes are relatively short and give insufficient volume, they are not of commercial interest (Jaques et al. 1986).
