Pegmatita de los Rancajales- Macizo de San Pedro, Soto del Real, Madrid, España
The San Pedro massif consists mainly of schists and gneiss and intrusions of granitoids which as a consequence of its large amount of volatiles that resulted in differentiated pegmatites, some with more complex mineralogy and complete zonation.
One of the best examples both for its size and completeness of mineralogy is the pegmatite located near the community of Rancajales. Observation of the morphology of the pegmatite and mineral collecting is contingent on the exploitation for feldspar, to open up the formation. Of note is the presence of other outcrops of pegmatites in the massif of San Pedro being difficult to place in a specific municipal area because this mountain lies in several municipalities.
