Originally worked between 1982-93, the quarry reopened in October 2007.
Gypsum from Bantycock is mainly used to make special plasters for industrial uses. Pink and grey gypsum derived from the thicker but less pure Cocks and Grey Rock Seams is used in the manufacture of building plasters.
