El Queva mining district
The El Quevar mining project is located about 90 km from San Antonio de los Cobres, Department of Los Andes, in the west of the Province of Salta, in the Argentine puna region.
It covers a total area of about 67,000 hectares, to the southwest of Nevado de Quevar, at an altitude that varies between 4,300 and 5,200 meters above sea level.
The entire El Quevar mining project is included within the Los Andes Provincial Reserve, a protected area of 1,444,000 hectares created in 1980 with the aim of preserving fauna, flora and soil.
Based on the studies carried out, it is estimated that once in the production stage, El Quevar may occupy the fifth place in importance in the world due to the magnitude of its deposits of economically exploitable silver.
In parallel, the exploration tasks allowed the detection of lead and zinc deposits.
