A group of Cr occurrences/mines located in secs. 7 & 18, T28N, R9W, MDM, and in secs. 1, 11 & 12, T28N, R10W, MDM, about 2.2 km (7,300 feet) ESE of Little Red Mountain, in the Pole Corral Creek and the South Fork Beegum Creek, on National Forest land. Discovered by G. Robinson and A. Shelton. Produced 1918 to 1956. Operated by L. B. Duffin (1956). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is a group of Cr deposits hosted in serpentinite. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains).
Analyses of chromite mined from the Blue Sky and Lucky Star mines, shipped to the GSA stockpile, Grants Pass, Oregon (1952-1957). Analytical data results: 44.1 - 49.9% Cr2O3; Cr to Fe ratio: 2.8 - 3.1 to 1; 10.0 - 12.4% Fe.
