The city of Broken Hill and its famous line of lode is situated in the centre of a middle proterozoic aged region called the Willyama Complex. This complex is over 200 km wide and straddles the South Australian / NSW state border. The Willyama Complex is divided in three blocks - The western Olary Block, the central Broken Hill Block and the eastern Euriowie Block.

This sub-section of the Broken Hill Block encompasses the area covered by the Broken Hill Block North 1:50000 metallogenic sheet and accompanying publication, produced by the geological survey of NSW.

It includes the following Pastoral Stations and sub-districts as follows.

Purnamoota Station
Nine Mile Station (including Acacia Vale Station)
Limestone Station
Belmont Station
Eldee Station
Mount Gipps Station
Apolyon Valley
