Iron, hexahedrite (IIAB)
Find 1953, 7 kg.
A weathered metallic mass (5.65% Ni) was recovered and later identified, acquired, and distributed by Harvey Nininger. Before sectioning, the entire mass was a single kamacite crystal profusely decorated by rhabdite prisms and lamellae. Small troilite-daubréelite inclusions are present in some sections. Tiny Carlsbergite plates are also found within the kamacite. Numerous Neumann bands are present and some cold annealing may have transpired before the meteoroid encountered the earth.
Much of the mass was distributed in 5 mm thick slices so that today no one museum appears to hold as much as 10% of the original mass.
