Șurdești is attested since 1411.
Geographical location: Șurdești is located in the southern Gutâi Mountains, 9 km SW of the Mogoșa Peak, on the right side of the Cavnic River, 8 km SW of Cavnic, 4 km north of Trestia and 10 km SE of Baia Sprie.
Geological investigations: Neogene magmatic rocks, basaltic andesites, hypersthene andesites, biotite-quartz andesites, pyroxene-hornblende andesites, dacites, rhyolites.
Matallogenetic unit: Subprovince associated to Neogene magmatism, polymetallic veins. North Transylvanian Neogene mineral deposits, Gutâi Metallogenetic District. Northwest wedging out area of Trestia veinlets.
Development status: occurrence.
