Large old mining district (mainly Fe from siderite and limonite, in Medieval and Roman times also Pb-Ag-Cu), the centre and source of the richest ore is Hüttenberg.

More than 150 adits are known.

The last mining activity (on Fe) stopped in 1978.

A mining museum and a mining trail can be visited.
