This outcropping deposit was discovered in 1957 on the farm of G. Adam, who worked it for quartz crystals and decorative stone. The deposit was acquired in 1989 by Mines Cristal Kébek Inc., who since have exploited the site for the crystals and as a tourist attraction.
In older literature it was known as the Adams farm or Adams quartz occurrence and former name of the town was Lawrenceville.
The following description was drawn from the Deposit File of the MRNF (Ministère des ressources minérales et de la faune):
Quartz veins transect quartz-sericite-graphite schists and chlorite schists of the Sutton Formation, located on the East flank of the Sutton and Notre-Dame mountains anticlinorium. The quartz inside these veins is milky white, and massive; it encloses numerous druses lined with quartz crystals, sometimes very well-formed and clear.
The main quartz vein has a visible size of 75m (250 ft) in length by 7.5 m (25 ft) in thickness, with a dip of roughly 40 degrees.
