Closed and mostly filled with water, this easily-accessed quarry was visited on April 30th, 2011.
The following info was taken from the Deposit File of the MRNF (Ministère des ressources naturelles et de la faune) :
A marble level, some tens of meters thick, is present. Associated to the Stukely-south Fault Zone, the rock is milky white, very pale grey, or beige.
The rocks enclosing this marble consist of schistous basalt at West, while the eastern part is surrounded by dark-grey mudrock associated to sericite-chlorite schists and to dark-green sandstone.
In the southeastern part of the quarry, a fault, characterized by a graphitic-black bed with a strong brown alteration, abruptly separates the marble and the schists.
The mineralization observed during this visit was massive, except for some subhedral quartz crystals. This locality, however, is interesting for its rock varieties and colors, and clean contacts, which can be observed. Although a great deal of the quarry is under water, many blocks and bare rock surfaces are available to work on.
